-----------------------April 2023 UPDATE_______________

So I have had a set back, as things were going along swimmingly of coarse, and I ran into a road block after trying to increase my alk from 7.5 closer to 10 to try to increase growth and it rose a bit too quickly (Also my tank is simply just not mature enough to support the load I had in there, so shame on me for that even though I had some success for several months)....Lost most of my SPS and a few gonis.

I am awaiting another ICP Test result to see if there is anything major, but I am pretty confident its a PO4 issue. I have been battling low phosphates pretty much from the start and my last few ICP tests almost show PO4 at close to 0. My Hanna checker reads anywhere from .06 - .15 on a given day so clearly that is not a reliable source. I will post my ICP tests shortly and for now I will probably wait until after summer to add anything more.

As suspected, tank is pretty much in line but PO4 is at rock bottom. My daily feeding and supplementing with 2-3 days/week of Reef Roids is not doing the trick. I will be starting to use Phyto Pheast on a limited basis to see if that helps as I have heard from multiple reliable sources this may help me sustain a .08 - .1 reading I am looking for on a consistent basis.

I hate when po4 and no3 bottom out I keep bottled nitrate and phosphate around just incase.

I think things are fairly stable at this point (even though I have lost 70% of my SpS). Using Phyto Pheast with my feeding schedule has helped the PO4. Plan is to go through the summer and evaluate where things are around Labor Day before adding any new frags.

I wouldn’t go back to 10 alk. 7- 8 is best if you’re having a hard time keeping nutrients up. Once they’re stable 8-9 alk. Lower alk and SPS are much more forgiving.

Thanks for your feedback bud. I will hit you up when I am ready again. Hopefully won't be long. I am still doing the Shine but have not seen much given a ton of my stuff died.

You’re welcome…sounds good. It’s always good to have nitrate and phosphate on hand so you can just dose if needed. Loud wolf powder is hard to beat or Brightwell liquid is ready to go. Your tank is still fairly new in the long game of reefing. It will get easier to keep nutrients stable as it matures. The shine won’t help if nutrients aren’t present. Hang in there…We’ve all been there before.
