I have been doing freshwater fish for 25 years and decided to try saltwater now. Got a tank for my birthday. Documenting progress here. Will be a very slow go.
The tank is now a full 2 months now. Diatom bloom is crazy but my own fault for a short staffed clean up crew. Water prams seem to be stable for the past month. First zoa is getting larger and new one has grown a new head already. Clown fish got a friend and they are constantly together. I named the yellow watchman Walter. Thought he was a goner the 2nd day cuz he turned white. He just lost his shrimp friend. Within 5 hours of finding him again he was back to bright yellow.
Today saw the Nepthea drop a small branch. It was nice and green where it came off so I glued it to a piece of rubble. Let's see if I can get the baby coral to grow
Haven't added too much lately as I had velvet take out 4 of my fish. The tank is still looking ok though and coral seem to be doing well. Can't add fish till February but I did pick up a few corals during the fallow period. The orange clown is in a QT and looks like it will recover. The tank is 6 mons old today.
Most happy with a coral my daughter picked out at a frag swap on Jan. 30. I wasn't sure about it as its and sps but found out its an easier one and so far is doing great. First pic taken Jan.30 and second Feb. 12
Thanks! Yes, the clown seems happy but I think he misses his pvc tubes. I will have to look for something for him to hide in that will look good in the DT. He was the first fish I put in this tank so I'm very happy he survived. I did lose the black clown, 3 chromis and yellow tang due to velvet though.
Well, it's been a long time since I have posted anything. Had some family and personal issues that kinda made me lose focus for a while. Of coarse my tank suffered because of it. I lost a few corals and almost all my fish. Still have the watchman gobie and his shrimp friend. Once I lost my Mandarin and Clown that kinda made me determined to get the tank in check again. I even took on a project of building a new stand for it and moving it into a different space in the house. The tank is now over 2 years old. Still having some algae issues and working on getting that under control again.
