Over the years, I’ve had a few freshwater setups. I decided to try saltwater now. I will use this thread to show my build over time.
I found a used 90 gallon reef ready tank for 200$ CAD. Cleaned it up and figured I’d like to mount it in the wall to not take up any floor space.
I did loose our CD/DVD storage, but it was worth it. Build a frame and left the bottom open for a sump.
I have the tank and sump running/cycling, but still need lights, wavemakers, a skimmer and a few other little things.
Below are pictures of my progress.

very impressive work!
FYI - I use to have the same RODI unit but it went through DI resin way too quick while not producing much water so upgraded to bigger RODI (different brand) and love it. Not having to change DI resin as often now while getting much more water with less waste. Something to consider.

I actually just ordered a spectrapure 90gpd unit this morning. This RODI unit was temporary so I could fill my tank and wait for stock to arrive.

Ordered Lights yesterday on amazon. Due to deliver May 9, showed up today. I wanted to get a couple Viparspectra 165w lights, but they were out of stock. So I settled for a couple of the Philizon full spectrum 165 black box lights for now. I had to test them out quickly. Still need to mount them properly. For the picture, I have them set to about 25% white and 80% blue.

Mounted the lights. They are 11.5” above the tank. If I want to go higher I’ll have to come up with another idea. Lower, no problem. Light seems better distributed now that they are above the tank and not sitting on the lid.

My Jebao SOW-8 Wavemakers showed up and installed. I also added some coral to it. Left island is going to be a Zoanthid garden (5 frags so far), the shelf has a frogspawn and torch. Leaving room for some kind of centrepiece. The right island, I have a Rainbow Montipora and a Green Montipora cap. On the overflow I placed a branching GSP.

Still trying to tune the placement and flow of the Powerheads.

Final piece installed. Went with a bubble magus curve 5 protein skimmer. i also upgraded my RODI system to a 90gpd, plus I still have my 50gpd RODI. Just need to trim the top for the sump to make room for the skimmer.
