My tank has changed SO MUCH since I’ve started this hobby, it continues to be my pride and joy. If you would have asked me if I thought I’d need a ladder for my tank 5 years ago, the answer would have been “probably never” ha!

Anyways. I decided to completely change this thread/rewrite it.

I never thought I’d ever spend a penny on any high price equipment. However I gave in and now use Neptune apex products - which I also don’t think are always so great. I’m getting ready to ditch the ATK FMM ATO and go back to my cheap Amazon ato.

Here’s what my system consists of:

- Lights: Echotech Radeons G5 (Blues)
- COR pump
- FMM ATO (again probably ditching this due to its high failure rate)
- apex brain/energy bar
- Neptune trident
- DOS
- DOS reservoir
- 2 ai Nero 5 pumps
- skimmer (I forget the brand)
- apex probes
- hygger heater
I dose AFR but am getting ready to just dose magnesium, trace elements, and alk (aqua forest)

My tank stock consists of a mixed reef with mostly LPS and softies. My PAR won’t reach above 180 in most high spots with my eco techs and the mount so SPS is a little more challenging to keep.

Fish:
- Yellow Tang
- Blue Hippo Tang
- Gladiator Clownfish
- Snowflake Clownfish
- Royal Gramma
- Cleaner Wrasse
- Firefish Goby
- Bicolor Blenny
- Two freshwater mollies that I converted myself
- Mandarin Goby (2 years old and eats pellets, frozen supplemented but lives off copepods, amphipods, and mysid shrimp)

Inverts:
- Nass snails
- Ox nerite snails
- Limpets
- Trochus snails
- Turbo snails
- Astraea snails
- Blue Tip Hermit crabs
- Tiger conch
- Coral Banded Shrimp
- Cleaner Shrimp
- Peppermint shrimp
- Harlequin Shrimp Pair
- Starfish (both asterina and cookie that live in sump) for food
- Maxima Clam

Fish wishlist:
- Copper Band Butterfly
- Pyramid Butterfly
- Diamond Goby
- Purple Gem Tang
- flame hawk

Current parameters:
Salinity 1025-1026
Temp 77-78
Alk 8.5
Cal 580 (possibly switching salts cause of this, I use tropic Marin)
Mag 1350
Ph 8.1
Phos 0.20
Nitrates 11

Nice looking tank!

Just working on building up my reef tank! Have some more corals coming soon.

It’s my baby! I currently have my second pump off as the anenome can’t decide where he wants to be. I have some materials coming to build a guard for it as I imagine they will want to move again once a new flow starts.

Edit 2/16/24

Decided to rehome the anenome to make room and got more coral. Decided to maybe show updates and progress on my Tik tok for fun.

Edit: 2/28/24

Unfortunatley I had an ich ourbreak or a parasite of some kind. I had to take all the rock out to catch my fish and it now sits empty for the next 2 months while the fishies are in quarantine. I had to reglue a lot of coral! In the mean time I was gifted several pieces of live rock so I added a lot more and decided to rescape since the opportunity presented itself. It sat out for 3 days in buckets but it was still very wet so I took the risk. A small ammonia spike as expected but within 24 hours it was gone (yay for the strong bacteria colony). My fish are looking so much better in just 3 days of treatment but I have to resist the strong urge to put them back! I won a skimmer from these forums and I can’t wait to test it out!!!! Edit 3/6/24

After all the extra rock I have it probably equals back to the 40 gallons even including my sump haha! I added a lot more coral. I don’t plan to add more (we all know how that goes) for the time being as I tried to plan everything based on future growth… I’m so excited to see what it’ll turn into!!!

Edit 3/14/24

I am doing well battling whatever disease spread. For now my tank is still fishless till May 10th. However it’s changed so much! I build a canopy and “doors” for my tank to make it look nicer. I love it! Waiting for magnets to come, but for now tape and Velcro is holding the fort down! View attachment 3561298

Wow my tank totally looks different and much more improved than I realized!! Here it is today with so many more corals, different fish, and a lot of upgraded gear/tank size!

This picture was taken the other day AFTER a devastating loss of coral and some fish due to an error in my part of vacuuming the sand too hard the last water change. I almost gave up… but things are much better now. This is what it was like before my losses:

I feel confident I’ll be able to get it back to where I had it though as a lot of my corals have a lot of growing out to do and well more space to do so now! I Unfortunatley lost my shrimp, my two clowns that I had since I started the hobby, and a bunch of collector corals. Ugh. But I’m not ready to give up! I’m now running about 85 gallons all together.

Came up with a creative way to frag a magician Zoa that tried to float off haha! Yea that’s a medicine cup with a frag disk inside 😂

Also finally have stable alk but constant trident issues ugh. I’m at a point where I need to up my dose but everything looks great! I lost a few collector pieces (torches and trachy) due to the trident not reading my alk right but after calibrating it’s good again but Unfortunatley I think the other corals were too far gone.

What an absolutely stunning tank! 😍😍 I'll be happy if I can get mine looking 1/3 as glorious as yours!!

Currently the tank has been torn down sadly. We had an issue with my husband’s job possibly closing down so we have to save money till finances are more stable. Though I’m sad, the slow process of getting things set back up is super exciting since I have so so much more knowledge than when I first started. I plan to make the reset worth it. For now I’ve invested in a pico 40oz tank, yes ounces, from PNW custom. I can’t not have some active saltwater running. 😂
