What happens if you place the coral atop it's skeletal base and just leave it there in the water box?

It didn't fell off. It was torn out of it's skelaton by improper handling.

The only thing you can do was 1) do not remove the skeleton from water and there was a chance it will regrow a new bubble in it. 2) leave the polyp in low flow, low light and it May Eventually start growing new skeleton under it.

With hammers, this takes at least 6 months. It doesn't look good for you, unfortunately.

The bubbles are still quite big now do you think there is any chance to reconnect it?

No. It will not reconnect to the skelaton.

If it's going to live, which is a very big if, it'll need to regrow a new skeleton which is a very long process.
This is what it looks like currently.

I tried to but it just falls off, do you have a suggestion on how to keep it on there?
Unfortunately no, I was just thinking about mushroom corals becoming detached from their base. People put the coral and base in a small cup encouraging it to re attach itself.
