Hi, I’m completely new to fish tanks and today I acclimated a Chocolate starfish for about an hour. Adding some of the tank water to the water that was in his little baggie and he’s now just chilling in one spot and I don’t see any of his little fingers. I’m worried about him. Is he okay? He’s been in the same spot for about 10 minutes now and he hasn’t fixated himself to the rock. There’s also the little brown string on top of him. Is he okay?

I would not worry yet. If he is still in the same position tomorrow morning, worry.
Okay thank you. I appreciate it. I’ve been sitting here staring at him. His legs are slowly starting to adapt to the rock. I think I’ve scared myself with reading everything that can go wrong.

Voracious eater. Eats everything and more.
Keep him very fed or he will dissolve, starting at the tips.
Are sensitive to water chemistry flux, so keep them rock solid.

How's your starfish today?
I had to take him back. He didn’t move and he curled into a ball. I poked him in one of his legs and he didn’t respond and had new white spots forming. I think it was Too much for me plus I have new coral and I didn’t want him to eat them

Very smart move.
Viturally all starfish don’t last long in captivity.

That’s what the people said too. They said they normally don’t take back any animals but I’ve only ever gotten anything from them and I buy my water from them. (Plus I apologized about 10,000 times) they reimbursed me for the money and told me I was right to bring him back as soon as possible. They said he was doing fine back at their home so. I appreciate your help so much!
