After a brief 6 month dabble with a fluval flex AIO we decided to get a bigger tank with a sump, nearly went for the 4ft version but would of meant a major furniture move so went for the 3ft wide one, these are 2ft deep.
We decided immediately that filter socks were not going to be a long term love so bought a clarisea filter roller, went for the clarisea over any other as the sump was pretty much ready for it, we dud remove the rear baffle though to gain more room.
The main display has 75lbs for aquascaped marco rock, the sump has 20lbs of seeded rock from our other tank along with about 6lbs of media in nets, once the display tank rock is seeded we'll remove the rock and media and add bio bricks, probably do that in stages, this will then free up some of the chamber that has the rock in for reactors.
We plan on fish only for a while until everything settles, the rockwork has been constructed to give a lot of swim throughs and hiding places, the fish are loving the new environment.
As its our first proper tank we did a fair bit of research and tried to make the sump cabinet as tidy as possible for maintenance and swapping out equipment down the line.
Ive added a 20w deltec uv too, this is set to flow for fish parisite but obviously easily changed if required.
The lights are a pair of little hydra 26 units on a custom mount, didnt want them hanging off the tank and wasnt wanting to hang them either.
You may notice a one spot fox face in there, he is tiny right now and will probably have to be rehomed later which isnt ideal but we will kerp a very close eye on his size and behaviour as he grows.
