Hi Env1101,

I experienced the exact same thing with my Derasa clam when I first it 11 months ago. It was the same size as yours and was looking like that even 5 days after I got it. I did not intervene or do anything that would bother the clam. Fast forward 11 months and now I have an 8 inch Derasa clam! I would try to refrain from bothering it. How much light does it get?

As long as the mantle is extended outside of the shell you should be fine. I’ve had my clam for 3 years and some days the mantle is flat like that and other days it’s angled up

This is my light schedule. Ai prime 16hd, 10” from waterline. I added some corals along with the derasa so it is on Acclimation mode starting at 50%.
4” growth per year is awesome. How often do you feed it?

How deep? I wouldn't use acclimation mode (and haven't for clams before), they need a good bit of light, but derasas can survive in the same light zone a lot of LPS and easier SPS can.

Just 12” deep. I have him in my nano tank.
Thank you, i will speed up the acclimation process then. I use it for newly added coral as well.
