Ah England! That’s why. Either way, if you wanted to run some other light like a kessil a80, you can get a screen top for about $20. You could probably go to a hardware store and find the pieces if you wanted to make one :)

I'm from Plymouth originally, so probably not a million miles from you!
I like the job the blue is doing of bringing out the tips of the hammer, it's still quite washed out with white though, I'm thinking about making a lens of sorts to fit over the entire light to help take out some of the white, rather than trying to overpower it with another bar
I'm just an hour back up the road the other side of Exeter from Plymouth. I admit it still looks white but it's not yellow anymore. I'll post a pic later of the difference. I'd be worried about adding a filter if it would reduce the par too much.

Yes, that would reduce the par. If you had a strong enough light, you could compensate for the loss from the filter. You might be able to order a few Cree led’s on amazon and tack them on in addition to the existing leds. You might even be able to replace some of the led’s if they’re individual.

Yeah I'd supplement it with another strip of LEDs but I'd just want to reduce the amount of white on the stock light. Yeah would be good to see the difference if you could!

That would be the intention, possibly even a t5 bulb towards the front

That's quite a significant difference! Do you use the stock blue and the extra blue at the same time too?
Well I have the blue strip come on an hour before both the stock white and blue then just the strip after. The strip on its own is bright enough anyway. I got fed up having to touch the button on top. This is just the strip, it's hard to take photos with just blue, but here it is

Is it mainly just the light that causes the algae? I have it on an 8 hour schedule. Is this amount of algae normal?
Algae can't be totally attributed to light, it will contribute when other things such as water parameters, high bioload or heavy feeding are occuring

Gotcha, I always add fritz zyme 9 before adding any live stock and I usually do a lighter feeding of frozen mysis every day. I’m sorta confused on what to do honestly. Should I do feeding every second day? My water is perfect currently.

How long before you add livestock do you use the Fritz 9? Have you had your lights on from day 1

I have one with the stick light, but I need / want to keep the hood so I added a tmc reef blue strip to the under side of the hood which makes the colours alot better, also as it's a separate light, it can be put on a different timer so I can have just blues at the beginning and at the end

of the day.
Where did you get the LED strip and how much did it cost?
