I got 3 and they all were in the tank. It was an hour later I was looking at the tank and now there are 2. I need to check the overflow tonight. I do like them. I had the lfs order them in specifically. My wife really enjoys them too. Now if I could get some of the snails you have.

Here are some cruddy pictures from last night. Everything is settling in good.

I'm wanting to get a camera on the tank and take some time lapse photos over the course of days, weeks, and months. Does anyone know if I can setup and app to do it on an old phone?

I went to the lake for the day and when I returned 6 fish were missing from my DT. I have located 3 of them in my overflow and haven't found the others. There are no salt water marks next to the tank and no dried carcasses any where. I'm guessing my dogs have figured out how to fish and are having a heck of a good time while I'm gone. They didn't even catch any big fish but I assume that's not what they're telling the neighbor dogs. I'm in a bit of a conundrum with adding more "expenses" fish that I like or not. It's interesting to see the color difference between the frags in my DT and the ones in my frag tank. I need more fish in my DT as some of the corals are paling. I just don't know what to do about the dogs.

You can dose things like potassium nitrate or "stump remover" from lowes, yeah from lowes, to increase nitrates. I've also heard people dosing calcium nitrate and other forms of nitrate dosing. However I've only ever used the KNO3 method (potassium nitrate) "stump remover" bc I only had a nano tank and didn't want 10 fish and my sps were munching nitrates as fast as the fish could poop! Google stump remover dosing and I'll also post my thread on that subject. I had very nice results and continue to utilize KNO3 dosing still today.

Yep. Sorry I wasn't following as I don't have low nitrates. This system is tied into my 3 year old system I'm the basement. I have dosed potassium nitrate before. The colors definitely aren't as good as fish poo colors. Thank you for the information though.

I added another coral last night. It wasn't by choice really. I found that my ORA Hawkins echinata became uncomfortable mounted so I grabbed some water weld and super glue and in she went. Pe is good but I'm having some nuisance algae on the sand. It's been a while since I have had sand in a tank and cant remember if this is a normal maturing thing or not.

Nuisance algae is "a normal maturing thing" in general, and it'll grow wherever it can get a toe-hold - sand included.

Fighting conchs and similar are a great choice to help deal with the stuff.

I went ahead and stirred part of my sand to break up the algae and it looks a thousand times better today.

I also stopped by my lfs and picked up a new fish!

I also have a couple of new corals coming!

Tough crowd in here...

I did a water change (50 gallons) and some sump maintenence today. I also started getting everything around for a local frag swap in a couple of weeks.

I cleaned all my media (Matrix and Siporax). I also changed out the old containers for since new pond baskets that have holes every where including the bottom. I couldn't belive how dirty the media got in the last section of my sump. I also had quite a bit of detritus in there too. I wonder if this will have an effect on my nutrients.

I've also been testing a Litermeter III for the last week and plan to put it online sometime this week for automatic water changes daily. I'm only doing 5 gallons a day to see if that makes any difference. I'm just looking to replenish the trace elements to try and improve color and to keep from changing large volumes every couple weeks.

Here is the dirty Matrix.

And here it is so fresh and so clean, clean.

Do you have a picture of the ultraviolet frag you bought? I'm curious what your nutrients do with the matrix clean up as well. I'm not sure if my matrix is helping or hurting at this point. Colors are looking sharp btw.

Yes. Here you go, it browned out and looks better and better every day. The cleaning of my matrix caused my nitrates to drop some.

I've had a couple of hiccups with of all things my salinity. They are straightened out and all my corals are looking better. I built a new light rack that allows me easier access to my lights.

The sump is a 220 in the basement. I'll snap some pictures tonight.
