my led lights for small tanks

Tagging along b/c I would love to find out more about the results too

I am trying to figure out what to do about this nano/pico tank I want to build which would be connected to my sump and just have it sit on my desk. I would like to have only zoas there. (and maybe a small wrasse if its big enough)

I had heard that zoas grow better under actinics only? is that true?
and how about their coloring under them?
(correct me if I'm wrong, but these blue LEDs would be direct substitues for actinics no?)

Blue LEDs (royal blue specifically) are more than just a replacement for actinics. Beyond getting great color and fluorescence, they also produce a lot of PAR. It's about equal to cool white LEDs watt for watt. It's like going from a crappy Current 460nm actinic T5 bulb to a Blue+ bulb.

I doubt zoas (or and coral for that matter) would grow better under actinics than daylights. Typically, daylight bulbs produce a lot more PAR and usable light than actinics alone (not including LEDs).

guys i will get some up on the weekend i have to move more fragd under this light and am working like crazy at work
