Since I am lockdown do to covid 19 I decided to setup my fluval sea m40. I had it for years and got back to the hobby after 7 years of absence.

I add the Ecotech Radion XR15W Pro, a protein skimmer, a phosban reactor, ATO, dry rocks and live sand to get the cycle begin.

Then I built a DIY Acrylic Sump because I did not want an all-in-one system. I drilled my tank for overflow.

With the acrylic left I built a DIY algae turf scrubber.

Since there isn't enough room in the sump, I plumbed my return pump with a manifold to feed all my other equipments.

I wasn't very happy with the fluval protein skimmer that it come with my tank. I upgrade it to Red Devil nano S-150.

I always had sandbed tanks before, so I decide to go with barebottom for a new experience.

I removed the sand and I think it looks much better now.

After 3 months of cycling. Its finally time to add live stock. The first coral I added was a montipora digitata frag. I also added an old mp40 that I had in storage till I purchase a mp10.

After a week, a friend of mine shutdown his tank and re-home all his livestock within 24hr.
All that end up in my tank.

To help with heavy bi load I added refugium in the first chamber of fluval tank and live rocks in the second chamber. Plus an extra media reactor in the sump.

I used hydroponic led strip for the refugium lights.

I start to monitor my alkalinity and calcium levels everyday and I noticed a big drop on my alkalinity. I pulled out old dosing pumps from my storage and start dosing 2 parts.

I just installed a Neptune apex classic that I purchased from a local reefer to control my system from when I get back to work away from home. I am planning in the future to add an automatic water change.
