Hello all,

I have recently put up a 46gal sw reef tank with the following information:

Live sand from an established tank, 30 gal of existing water rest of the water was new
have bak-pak skimmer, 7 sm crabs and 5 snails, several bristol worms, have just put 2 pounds of live rock in, also there are two corals one zoo and the other i need to get the name from whip1, which is where I got my sand and water from along with the corals.....
All seem to be doing good corals were prety ugly the first several days but are looking much much better colors coming back........
The sand had a light gray film on top after settling down and now I have a light brown color forming on top of the light gray areas starting to form would like to know what this is and if I need to get rid of it and how????

My testings are as follows:
Sg 1.024-1.025 (I try to keep it in the middle of the two)
Ph 8.2
Nitrite 0.5 (which I think is high, so how do I bring it down)
Tank has been up and cycling for two weeks

I am curing my own live rock and it will be done in a few weeks still a little lime coming out making my ph very high..... so waiting for it to come down.:cry:
Just wanting to make sure everything is going ok with the tank and all......
New to this all the help will be greatly needed......

Thanks alot, Kelly
