I'm from Napa California. We have alot of mountains and rocky habitat that kingsnakes love. There's also alot of fields and grassy areas that they like as well. However its getting alot harder to find them. I'll post a picture of the mountain kingsnake that I just found on mount st. helena tomorrow morning. It's a really unbelievable snake and very, very hard to find in the wild. I just have to scan the photo I have its not on my computer and I'm tired. Cool thread by the way

Yeah I'd love to see the pic! Thats pretty awesome..thats exactly the kind of environment they (books) describe.

That's a nice GTP! You must've put in a lot of time if it tolerates being held.

I have a red tail that I keep about 3' away from my reef. I think it likes the warm humid air in the room :) I'm going on 2 years with this one, and he's pushing 6.5'. I have just about always had some sort of reptile and fish under my care.

Great looking snakes, I don't think I could convince the wife to let me keep a snake. But then again she didn't like my chameleon at first either, after I lost my first panther to a respiratory infection she made me get her the one in my avatar.

Beautiful snake! I'm scared to death of them haha

I was kinda the same way but the other week I ran into a green snake that was so calm to pick up.really cool. I know thats a small snake but it really sealed the deal on me getting one. Heres a pic of my pops holding the one we found.

WO!! Thats one handsome snake! By the way he looks so calm I'm guessing you handle him quite a bit.

No I just released him. It's just fun for me to target different reptiles and trying to find them isn't always easy. I looked for this species for a long, long time. Well worth the wait. In plus I didn't have my fishing license on me. LOL

Thanks. I think I spend more time 4:1 working on the fish tank than on his tank. He hangs out on the couch most nights till lights out. Very friendly animal.
