here is my new tank mate. According to the orginal owner, it called yellowtail tang and he said its very rare. I have never seen such a tang before either online store or LFS. It looks some what similar to the gem tang. Despite its size (4"-5"), it is still a beautiful fish and it made my tank look a lil smaller now. Hopefully it wont be too aggressive toward my powder blue.

Should be fine twoards the powder blue, added last and different body shape

For what it's worth, yellowtail tang is another name for the purple tang. I would say it's def. a Zebrasoma or hybrid of a Zebrasoma. Cool looking though.

Its a Yellowtail surgeonfish, Prionurus laticlavius... Common around Costa Rica/Central America

^^^Good call!^^^ Never heard or seen one of those before. He's gonna be a big boy one day!

yeh that is in the wild though, but home aquarium, i dont think so as this fish had been keep by the previous owner for like 2 and half years.

The most common size found is 10"s in the wild, so I would expect it to get atleast that big in an aquarium. Fish can live for a long time if they don't have any predators. Fish in aquariums typically don't live long due to aquarium issues, so nobody knows how big they get in the home aquaium.
