I am starting a new build. This will be my first build thread. I will try to document each step of the way. This build isn’t gonna be a quick as I was planning. Once I got the tank and realized how much work was gonna be involved in rebuilding the stand and canopy and modifying the tank to fit my “wants”, I’ve decided to take my time (if that’s even possible for me. lol). This tank will replace the 75g I did pretty much the same thing to, that I got from my mother. I’ve had that tank up and running for about 3 months now. I will be selling that setup once I’m ready to set up the 150g. I got a complete setup from my buddy who could no longer take care of it due to health conditions. Livestock and all. I’ve started on the rock scape already. Will be done with that in the next week or so. Already cleaned and rinsed the sand that he had. Sand is in a plastic trash bin and when the rock scape is done it will go in a separate trash bin. I will mix up a batch of salt water and fill both and put pumps in them and feed them to get cycle started on them while all the other work is going on. Hopefully I’ll have it all done and completed and ready to install by sometime in November. That’s the goal anyway. Could happen before or might be a little later. So come along for the ride as we start this build and pass along your thoughts, opinions, and just overall what you think.
Thanks for stopping by.

Here is the setup I have now. It is a 4’ 75g tank. I built the stand and canopy. But have yet to stain and finish the canopy. Seem to be so busy here lately. Lol.

i have been working on the rock work and sourcing other materials. I’ve cleaned the sand already (sorry didn’t get any shots of that). Let the rocks die and bleach out before starting the scape. Going for a NSA look. Really like the way some of those turn out. Haven’t really bothered cleaning the tank yet. Figured I’d get the rocks done and get those and the sand in water and start cycling them first. So what do y’all think of the rock work so far? It won’t let me add a video . Says it’s too big of a file. It’s a nice vid to show the depth of the rock work.

here is a video of the rock work so far.

Also today got the new overflow boxes built. Some of the materials I’ve been trying to locate and acquire. Tank only has 2 drains drilled in it and a return drilled through the back glass. I don’t like the return where it is so it’s being removed and getting plugged and and 2 new holes and a second overflow box on the back right corner. Plan is to put a drain and return in each. Here are the new boxes I built. Gotta locate a dremmel and cut the slots in the top.
