Short story I had my powder blue tang in a egg crate trap for about a solid month. He was harassing other fish especially a newer convict tang which I know should be added first but I was hoping for the best as they were only added a few weeks apart. I made the decision to relocate the PBT to another system but it was not ready so thats why he ended up in jail for so long. Well today I tried to take him out to go to the new (well not new, just renovated/reconditioned) tank, and of course he jumped right out of his jail cell, thus back into the tank he was not supposed to be in, along with the other tangs.

Well so far so good, he seems happy and couldn't care less about the convict tang. hopefully his reformed behavior lasts because I'd be surprised to catch him in the same trap after he spent so long in it. :(

Well I'm pretty sure the territory he established isn't his anymore so he knows his place now, only time will tell, I suggest leaving him, and preparing a new trap while he's in there in case his behavious goes south

Meh I think you could use the same trap but maybe with different bait and in a different location

If a tang has an aggressive attitude, a mirror never fails to get them to the corner of a tank, and can be used in conjunction with a trap.

So far so good. There's a little chasing here and there but nothing out of the ordinary for tangs. The convicts are just so much tamer than any other tangs its a little scary.

I also really did not want more than 3 in my tank just for bio load reasons but hey once you have 3 why not have 4 I guess. Lol. It is certainly a nice group if it works out. PBT, Convict, Purple, and Chevron.

Btw the mirror thing creates mass havoc in my tank. I have a ton of wrasses and they go crazy, as well as the butterflies and tangs and its just not good.

I had a PBT that I would sometimes re-home for months to a QT. She always returned to her wicked ways once placed back in the DT.

I too have a pbt in timeout. I pulled him from my 180 and he is currently in my 40b frag system. Ill be putting him back in the dt in a couple more weeks. It will be 8 weeks total for his timeout. Hopefully he doesn't go back to his evil ways.

I wish I had my old one but I had to tree home him. He was a model citizen until I caught a liking for butterflies, and he wanted nothing to do with those. This pbt has been a pain even chasing wrasses and such so I had no plan to let it back into the display. If he stays a little mellowed out like he has the last couple days then he's welcome to stay. The bullying starts back up though, and I'll have no choice but to evict him. Lol

IME this is pretty standard with PBT. One of the few fish to hold a permanent grudge
