The anemone was getting big and my clown just started to host in it more
(I've had the clown for years and anemone been in the tank for at least 9 months).

I looked in through the side glass and noticed that my red bubble tip anemone split into three.

I've never heard of them splitting in three before.

Bubble Tip Nems Split fairly regularly, hence the reason they never really get as big as some of the other species. It's either a sign of happiness or unhappiness depending. In your case, sounds like you're doing everything right.. Congrats on the free Nems.

I've noticed unscientifically that if you put them in direct flow, not enough to make them release and move but enough where they wave around quite a bit they will split. I think mine split about once every 3-4 months. I've given away probably 15 of them locally in the past year and a half

Love all the rbta. Over a year with mine no split. I dont even direct feed mine so it doesnt split. Dont really want to over ran with rbta in my tank. Now if only the clowns would host it.

I've seen this many times in my 120. Often they split and you don't notice it until they split again and then you see the mouths. Usually in my experience anyway, there is one 'SPLITTER' and all the rest are daughters. Until you get to critical mass and then several will become splitters.. last count I had 28 from just one in the beginning.
