Good morning.
I have a young tank, 2 months post cycle.
Cal 430
alk 8.7
mag 1400
salinity 1.026
temp 79f
nitrate .75
phos .05
When my zoas fist went in, they were wide-eyed and incredibly vibrant. Shortly after adding the second zoa frag, they stopped opening as fully. Now their colors are very blah as well.
Over a 5-6 week time-frame, the purplish frag has added 3 new polyps. The yellow has lost one and grown one. These pictures are horrible. I didn't realize until I uploaded them. That's the story in a nutshell though. They open, but like an old worn out t-shirt, not like a freshly starched collar. And their colors are noticably dimmer, from one polyp to the next. One may be crazy vibrant, the next looks like it has a cataract.
They're sitting on the sandbed getting 70 - 90 par. All other species doing well.
I pulled the rock over the weekend, gave them a 15 min dip in "revive," scraped a little algae off the plugs, and tried to treat the plugs with hydrogen peroxide without getting too much on the polyps (basically failed at that). Now, they're not stretching as much, but are still fairly limp and colorless.
