Mystery crab

I had a light green emerald crab a few years ago that I think changed into this black thing. It is about 2” in length and I have no idea if it is reef safe or not. I have not lost any Fish or seen him eat anything. Is this reef safe or am I dodging bullets

with this guy. It seems like legs are a little hairy but his body is smooth and jet black. I have mostly LPS and well stocked tank.

Yeah, that looks like a Mithrax crab, should be ok as long as it has enough algae to eat.
