Stop using it and see if the foam disappears

I think Clearmax takes out Nitrates also. You want to bring your nitrates up and slowly reduce phosphates. I would use something like PhosGuard a little at a time and add something to up your nitrates slowly. I dose Ammonium Bicarbonate in my little nano for N03 and have now stopped dosing Sodium Phosphate since the rocks have sucked up enough P04 for now. I shoot for around 10 nitrates and under .1 phosphates to keep my critters happy.

Did you rinse that stuff out and let it soak before putting it in?

I don't understand some of you on this forum wanting Nitrates, it has always been a staple of aquarium keeping to get to 0, like the ocean. I do use Phosguard.

It's taken me some time to get on board, but I see more issues with low nitrates then with moderate values like 10-20 ppm.
Honestly I never thought I would see the day when I add Ammonium Chloride to my tank and feed to get detectable phosphates. But here I am a hobbyist since the 80s.

I will consider this.
