(Scorpaena inermis)

You want a weird fish from the mystical land of "Eww, Cool?!" The mushroom scorpionfish is definitely on the darker end of the mystical fish list. These fish inhabits islands off shore and can sometimes be swept into the current where it will end up in any random place, granted it survives the harsh sea away from its regular habitat.

They live amongst the turtle grass and on the sand beds waiting to gulp down nearly any passer by with their vacuum-like mouths.

The mushroom scorpionfish is a master of disguise. 12 will see you before you see them unless you are a well trained fish spotter.

They are fairly easy to keep provided with the standard reef tank parameters and a varied meaty diet of fish meat and crustaceans.

If you have one of these cool fish please share your experience with them! We would love to see!
