Quick summary
N-Clear Single, Duo, and Triple kits provide a shared-control architecture for multiple mechanical-filtration paths on one aquarium. A Main is the complete independent system; Extensions add synchronized filters to the same controller, sensor, and power system.
Nano and M use the same Main-and-Extension control principle at different scales. Linked motors receive synchronized commands, while the physical accumulation on each used roll can vary with the water and media conditions in its filtration path.
Single, Duo, and Triple at a glance
An Extension is an additional filtration module for the same aquarium and water-level zone. Separate aquariums use separate Main systems so that each system has independent sensing and control.
Nano kit architecture
Nano Duo is designed for tanks with two meaningful intake paths, such as a dual-chamber AIO. Sharing the controller keeps the installation simpler while doubling the active fleece path.
M kit architecture
M’s patent-pending cone-style fitting system makes this modularity practical: rather than removing the sock section for one oversized roller, each filter occupies an existing opening. A planned Triple layout can serve a larger system around 180 gallons while preserving the original sump architecture.
Why linked rolls can look different
All linked motors receive the same advance command at the same time. The visible roll diameter and fleece accumulation can still differ because the physical result also depends on:
One revolution of a larger take-up roll pulls more linear media than one revolution of a smaller roll. Differences in roll diameter can therefore occur under synchronized motor commands. Operational verification focuses on whether every motor responds together and each filtration path advances fleece effectively.
Splitter vs. extension cable
The splitter creates additional motor outputs for Duo or Triple operation. A two-pin motor extension cable adds 5 ft / 150 cm of motor reach; a three-pin sensor extension cable adds 5 ft / 150 cm of sensor reach. They solve placement problems, not control logic, and the motor and sensor cables are not interchangeable.

Which architecture matches your aquarium: one intake path, two linked chambers, or a three-sock sump?

Single, Duo, and Triple at a glance
| Configuration | Filter modules | Shared components | System scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single / Main | 1 Main | None; complete independent system | One filtration path |
| Duo / Main + Extension | 1 Main + 1 Extension | Controller, sensor, power, and splitter | Two paths on one aquarium |
| Triple / Main + 2 Extensions | 1 Main + 2 Extensions | Controller, sensor, power, and two splitters | Three paths on one aquarium; M platform |
An Extension is an additional filtration module for the same aquarium and water-level zone. Separate aquariums use separate Main systems so that each system has independent sensing and control.
Nano kit architecture
| Nano configuration | Flow capacity | Control architecture |
|---|---|---|
| Single | Up to 300 GPH | One compact AIO path with one Main system |
| Duo | Up to 600 GPH combined | Two AIO intake paths share one controller and optical trigger |
| Two Main systems | Independent by system | Separate sensing for separate aquariums or independent water-level zones |
Nano Duo is designed for tanks with two meaningful intake paths, such as a dual-chamber AIO. Sharing the controller keeps the installation simpler while doubling the active fleece path.
M kit architecture
| M configuration | Flow capacity | Filtration layout |
|---|---|---|
| Single | Up to 800 GPH | One active 4-inch sock opening or compatible AIO path |
| Duo | Up to 1,600 GPH combined | Two linked sock or AIO paths |
| Triple | Up to 2,400 GPH combined across documented paths | Three linked filters across a three-sock sump |
- how much water and debris each chamber receives;
- how tightly wet fleece packs on each take-up shaft;
- small differences in media tension and stretch;
- the changing effective diameter of each used roll;
- normal friction through each lower fleece path.
One revolution of a larger take-up roll pulls more linear media than one revolution of a smaller roll. Differences in roll diameter can therefore occur under synchronized motor commands. Operational verification focuses on whether every motor responds together and each filtration path advances fleece effectively.
