Need a new tank.

It's time to move on from my 90G acrylic tank. Looking for brand suggestions. Waterbox, RedSea, Planet.
48" x 24" footprint; nothing taller than 29".

My last tank was piecemeal together. Lasted for 4 years. Hard to keep glass pristine on refers?

Not trying to break the bank - between $2.5k - $3k

Anything but red sea. Too many seam failures reported and I've experienced it.

I've heard good things about Glass Cages. He lists a bundle on his website for a 48x24x25 tank (so, 120g), with tank, stand, and sump for $2900. I don't have one of his tanks, so don't take that for an endorsement - just some info I have.

I would also stay away from Red Sea for now. I have a Reefer 350 and while it's a nice tank, there are some nagging issues that really prevent me from endorsing it. Plumbing design, cabinet design... and oh yeah, that seam issue. I haven't had any issues with my seams and don't think I will, but I've read about enough of them that I can't in good conscience recommend them to anyone. If G3 goes on for a few years without the same rate of seam failure that we've seen, maybe I'll start giving them the benefit of the doubt again, but right now they're definitely an "avoid".

Waterbox, IM, Cade, just no redsea.

I also wouldn't go over 24" tall. Just makes cleaning a lot more work.

This is my old 48×24×16.
Just another option if you want a shallow reef. Corner overflow with a 40 breeder sump. Nice for the money but you still need a stand.

Waterbox 110.4 fits those dimensions. Not sure of price anymore but they usually have deals coming up around Black Friday.

Don't.

I know they sell a LOT of tanks and many do not fail. Here's what I, and others think you need to know.

1) They are easily #1 seam failure tank in the undustry.
2) They have failed to reasonable address this (until MAYBE recently)
3) Worse, they have not admitted to fault, but they do warrantee replace.
4) Kicker for me: The couple people who have taken them apart said the silcone basically just fell away. It was insanely easy to dismantle the tank.

Wow- I have a Red Sea and it is the best tank I have ever owned.
No problems with the seams, BEAUTIFULLY clear glass... and I LOVE how seamless all the hardware is and works together...
I was surprised to see so many negative comments here.
