Does api freshwater test kit works the same as it's saltwater? Since it both test the same parameters?

Tests are the same. I do believe the color charts are different. Personally, I wouldn't use API, and I would try to get your hands on a better test kit. (RedSea, Salifert or Hannas)

You didnt say which test you were using. Most dont like API due to bein inaccurate or hard to read. The ammonia one for example will ghost ammonia at 0.25 for saltwater for some reason. I found no issues with their high ph ..purple at day/night for me why spend more. The nitrate one is annoying as their oranges blend however better IMO than that stupid Salifert one with that little 0.5 ml spoon you have to get just right and the shades of pink.
Dont know about APIs other tests as i dont test for Ca/Mg just Alk and i use some brand called "monitor" works for me.

Api kits are known for being inaccurate. People buy them and use them because they are the "cheap option" for people to use. IMO, making sure you have proper testing equipment is crucial. You don't want to dose something or make adjustments to your tank due to a test kit not giving you an accurate reading.
