First I’d like to thank all the member here on Reef2Reef. You have all been a great help entering the salt world.

Yesterday I noticed a white sponge like material growing on a coral plug. I wasn’t sure what it was and peeled it right off.
Today I am seeing it growing on my rock. Can anyone tell me what this is. And if it’s hazardous?

Looks like you hit the nail on the head with sponges.

I’ve got a whole bunch of pineapple sponges, like 10+ mine are bright yellow! Harmless filter feeders and easy to remove if you want to put a coral there
