What’s the best way of getting rid of this bacteria or algae? It’s making my leather corals shrink.

Welcome to R2R.

hello (2).gif

Does it blow off if you use a turkey baster and blow water at it?

First off, welcome to Reef2Reef!

Another question- is this stuff confined to a few rocks or is it everywhere in the tank (walls, powerheads, etc.)?

It’s everywhere. I have to constantly get it off the corals or they start to suffocate them.

Does it seem to get worse at the end of the day and slightly "better" early in the morning?

It’s hard to tell. I have been doing water changes and it’s just relentless. Maybe very slightly better in the morning if any. I run my fuge light at night opposite of the main tank lights.

@Ron Reefman - what were you thinking?

At first I was leaning towards dinos based on the answer (I've seen dino outbreaks that looked similar without the pathognomonic bubbles), but I'm also considering Lyngbya based on the back wall from the second picture.

I’m doing research on Lyngbya now! Thanks! This has been an on going fight.
