I haven’t seen either of my goldhead gobies in a couple weeks. I’m beginning to get kind of concerned. The tank is healthy, all fish look good, the corals I got at reefapalooza are thriving, and there’s an aqua uv sterilizer running for Protozoa control.
There is also circumstantial evidence that they might be alive, with certain sections of the sand bed, particularly around where I last saw them, super clean. I need sandbed cleaning, so I want to make sure before I get another goby and risk conflict.
Anyone got suggestions on how to coax them out? I tried frozen food. Didn’t see anything. Also willing to try out other frozen food

Remove all the rocks works as a last resort. Put food out and try to coax them. Look around the tank for jumpers
Didn’t see anything and my tank has a lid. I disturbed the sand a bit to see if they redo it. Not sure what else to do. It’s a 200g display tank, so removing all the rocks is…a mission, particularly considering the corals and other life in there.

Sometimes fish are gone too soon. Sounds like you have good hiding places. Frozen clams seem irresistible to fish. Are there any fish eaters in the tank?

Nope. Peaceful community aquarium. Angels and tangs (they never showed the slightest interest in the gobies when visible). Yea, I’m kinda expecting the worst but I’m just scratching my head on the how. And two of them. Sourced from reefbeauties so between that and the sterilizer and that they’ve been in there for a couple months I am just surprised.
