Hey everyone so I’m in the carolina and the power has been out for 36 hours I have a generator that’s run the heater return pump and power head this whole time but I can’t afford to miss work tomorrow and the power is still out. I can’t run the generator when I’m not
Home and I’ll be gone for 9 hours will exeception of coming home for 30min on my break...what can I do to try and prevent loss of everything? I have a bunch of coral two clownfish and a firefish in a 30gal any advice is welcome

Sorry to hear about your situation! My only suggestion is hopefully you can find a friend, neighbor or family that can help with keeping the generator running while you are at work.

Really depends how long your tank can last without power. My power was out for about 9 hours, halfway through I ran my return pump for about 15 minutes and everything was fine. Ironically I went and bought a generator and the power came back on as we were assembling it.

Actually, one more thought. If you can't get help with the generator, wrap the tank in blankets to keep as much heat in as possible. Might minimize losses if it comes down to that. 3 fish in a 30 shouldn't put too much load on oxygen levels, heat loss is going to be the worst part.

You have a few options if you can make it to the store today. And UPS battery back up running just the heater and return pump should give you some time.

You can also grab a battery powered air stone and run that for circulation.

Depending on where you live, heat might be a big problem too. Insulate the tank however you can. Wrap the glass in blankets or towels.
