Last night I noticed my filefish laying up against rocks and this morning he was wedged by return chambers. I put him in “breeder box” to keep him away from everything else. He has a wound? on him and did not eat when I tried to feed him what can I do???

Hi,

Can you try for photos taken under white lights?
Also , we need more background information to try and rule things out. Take a look at the top of this section, I made a sticky post about hints and tips for posting.

Thanks,

Jay

Jay, I apologize for the lack of info, when I get the chance I will get a picture of the filefish under white lights.

But my tank is about 8 months old, 25 gallons, stocked with a royal gramma, clownfish and benggai Cardinal.

Parameters are:
Alk 8.8
Cal 450
Mag 1450
Salinity 1.025
Nitrates - 0 ish (fighting dinos currently)
Ammonia - 0
Phosphates - 0

Yesterday I saw the filefish laying up a against a rock at the bottom of the tank and then this morning his nose was stuck (?) in the water return areas, when I got home for lunch I checked on him and he was in the same spot again. So I scooped him up into a DIY breeder box to keep him away from everything else. After I did that I tried to feed him and he did not eat at all.

The filefish was dead when I got home today, wonder what happened....
Sorry to hear.

Did you see any rapid breathing with the filefish?
Are there other fish in the tank that you need to be worried about (if it was contagious)?
