Here is mine. What I'm really looking for is more of a steep hill coming "down" the mountain(yep the song is stick in my head too) to the tree. This is about 40 pounds of rock, would really like to go a bit more minimal with more open space.

Here’s my attempt. I like the right side. I do not like the left side but husband “just had to have the premade arch” and now I don’t know how to fit that in a more organic way.

ps it’s the “Frankenstein tank” because there’s like 4 different rock things going on lol

If you need an outside perspective to help with improving your aquascape, just post here a few shots of your tank, and will try my best shot at providing specific advise according to your goals for the tank.

Sometimes I can just answer here, show the alterations using photoshop or make a video.

Just post here front shots with your cellphone/camera positioned at 3 different heights (sand level, centre and water level) and also a couple of angled photos, so that I can have a better understanding of your tank's layout.

This is a subject that is surprisingly not researched by most reefers and I have given some thought and some time ago I did a similar exercise in another forum.

It's also a great way for everyone to learn from each other and see a few freshwater techniques that we can apply and also many others that are specific for reef tanks.

In the meantime, if you want some inspiration here are a few videos I made with suggestions for different tank shapes.

First sw tank, starting to play with the aquascape. Its a 37g column tank. Starting fish only with a someday plan for corals. I have no idea what I'm doing so welcome to all advice/thoughts/tips!

Looking for opinions and advise. I have large rocks that I tried to avoid breaking but I broke one up into more manageable sizes. I was going for the island type feel. My tank is te feet tall so I choose to go with the pulled on one side. Thoughts? The zip ties are temporary. Sorry for the bad lighting. 70 gallon tall

Hi everyone . This is my first reef scape. Any suggestions ?. Made sure to leave space between rocks and glass.

The shaded area is the AIO/Chamber

What would you do to improve this aquscape?

1623114133153.png

I was thinking of making a rubble rock feature up the back wall like this, and growing zoas up it, or gsp. Think that'd be too much?

Also, all the rocks around the base are going to have zoas. Any recommendations on what colors to put where? I've always been terrible at the complimentary colors game:

I’m just not sure if this is the most efficient use of space.
Any thoughts?
