what is the optimum level. my orp is running kind of high, i havent run carbon in two weeks. i did a water change last week, my orp went from 416 to 315 yesterday it was up to 456 i did another water change yesterday it went down to 332, today it is back up to 375, not sure what this means i need all of the info i can get.

You should calibrate your ORP probe, or cross check it with one you now is working. It's unlikely that your getting an orp of over 400 and your not injecting ozone. Just my opinion.

How old is the probe? It took mine over a week, maybe two to finally break in and give me an accurate reading.
