Are you carbon dosing? Vodka, vinegar, biopellets? I run pellets and get a dusty brown coating on my gravel sometimes.

So you are not carbon dosing. (Running GAC is not carbon dosing). How's your bioload and what are you doing for nutrient export? Skimmer? What made you think your tank was too clean?

I had a similar problem about a month ago. Slime would grow daily. Covering rocks and coral. Tried Chemiclean. No luck.
I tried Red Slime remover and gone for about a month now. Worked great.
