Need your inputs on Powder Blue Tang

Should i get a smaller specimen or the larger one?My LFS have them in stock. I know theyre not very hardy and get ich faster than you can say "ich" I have succesfully QT/treat other fish with Cupramine so shouldnt have any problem right? Id like to put him in a 125G with a kole tang. If theres gonna be a problem i can remove the KT.

Larger ones are generally hardier than small ones, but even in a 125, will eventually outgrow that tank.

I Just pickedone up. Hes avg sized and eating well at the lfs.

Make sure you QT it. Also if you have ich in your display be prepared that the PBT will show signs within a week.
However I don't think 125 is too small for a PBT. If you can keep it ich free you should be fine. Good luck.

Go small they grow and are aggressive. The one I have has never seen a bit of ich but I can't think of putting another tang in the tank. I have kept him in a 90gal reef for about 4+ years now. He/she was the first fish/live stock I had ever ordered online.

I would venture to guess that well over 90-95% of these sold in the hobby die from disease they could have prevented by proper quarantine and preventative treatment. They're also the most aggressive and vindictive tang in the hobby IMO

I saw two last night at my lfs. One was smaller but a little beat up, both were eating like a pig, so i pick up the larger of the two for $65. Also boguth a juvi imperator angel and a flame.

I acclimate for 2 hrs and put him in the FOWLER that iv been dosing with Cupramine. All 3 fish Ate almost right away. I have 2 unknown super huge meanie damsels that tried to punk the newcomers. They all stood their ground :)
