I know the default config on the Trident is to test ALK 4 times a day - can this be dropped down to once or twice a day? I run a CalRx so no dosing but I love the idea of automated testing and I already have a new Apex.

It can't according to the manufacturer and it has to do with that particular reagent clogging up the lines.

I’ve heard complaints that they’re difficult to get, complaints that the reagents are out of stock, and complaints about the required testing schedule, but in the end, I haven’t heard any complaints about the Trident itself and haven’t seen anyone say they’re sorry they got theirs.

I was speaking to one of the owners at my LFS the other day and he thinks his corals are growing better because of the improved ALK management allowed by the Trident. I haven’t seen any other reports but that is the ultimate question. Everyone agrees it makes your life easier, but does it make your tank healthier?

Personally, I actually haven’t had anything but issues since buying one. Received mine just before Thanksgiving. First unit was defective and didn’t pull sample water. Had to send it back. They sent me a replacement, which I was hoping would work, but I still haven’t gotten a single successful test yet and I’ve had it for three weeks. It’s giving me the same error code as the last one, “Test A Fail”. I’ve followed all of their troubleshooting steps and contacted support again. Neither as yet to fix the issue. Pretty frustrating.

Check and make sure your sample tube is not kinked up. Test A fail is an error but may just be a symtpom. My wfie accidently pull my sample tube out and I got that error. Also mak sure your sample tube isn't too far doan and getting clogged with debris from the sum or bottom.
