What’s the most likely cause of a Nero 3 not turning ?

Let’s assume it’s clean and not blocked.

When plugged in the green light comes on. Then the red light flashes.

Is it most likely the controller that’s bad or the impeller part?

What I’m asking is either part worth keep for spare parts. It’s way out of warranty. I’d like to keep either end if there is a change either end is operational. I’m asking which end that is likely to be in your experience. I have no idea

Thanks!

red flashing is pump stall or overheating error. My guess it it'd be something on the pump side. Motor likely burnt out if it's not obstructed and you can spin the blades freely.

Mine has only ever flashed red when a cerith snail has climbed on it and some sand gets inside. After a soak for an hour in citric acid it is always smooth. I also put a tiny dab of food safe silicone grease on the shafts. They tend to run quieter longer with that applied.

Did you do the whole controller reset thing? Hold button while plugging it in?

Yes. I did the reset.

I was soaked in citric acid and the blade tries to spin. Meaning sometimes it will turn 1/4 of a turn and stop. It doesn’t do this every time it is plugged in though. Only maybe 1 in 5 or 6 tries.
