Hi, just thought I document my 7 yes 7 year struggle to get this tank up and running. I have a thread on a UK forum but I think I might get more assistance here as it seems there's more people here with experience of these old discontinued systems.

To be honest I don't really understand why I have persisted with this rank. The only thing I can think of is if went on this long with it do why stop now......and I love the curved corners.

I'll try my best to summerise the last few years so I can get to where I am now. Tank first purchased 7 years ago. Cabinet had water damage and everything was in a poor state

So i went about cleaning it up and seeing if it was salvageable. It sat for a year or so before I even got around to doing this. Took it outside and gave it a clean up. Then the dreaded water leak test!!!!

Again it sat for a while back in the shed then I got the hood out and gave it a good clean and ordered/replaced the necessary parts I could still source. Ordered a few other bits and bobs at this stage. I also found Stevie Ts thread which was very helpful.

I bought new power compacts, lense cover, rubber seals, retaining screws, Tunze ATU, RO unit, Stevie media rack, Purigen,Chemiclean. 2 internal fans and 1 hood cooling fan. Replaced the lights, lense, 2x internal fans. Was going to build a log cabin/mancave so the tank stopped there and I never got around to building the man cave. Moved house a couple time so there is sat in Carbonite like Han Solo for a good few years again.!!!!!!

So to the present day. Moved into new house about 8 weeks ago. Sick of moving this tank around but didn't have the heart to throw it out. Pulled it out of garage, full of spiders and various other creepy crawlies. Decided I best do another leak test.........failed. Undeterred I set about removing the silicone. I have got rid of the main silicone seals just need to run over the residue with acetone and a razor blade.

So now it's sitting on a temp stand. (Drawers which I will remedy) and cables in a bit of a mess. Will re-seal this weekend and do a water test next week. I am determined to get this up and running........this year hopefully lol. Few bits still to buy which ill get as and when funds allow. If you're looking for a fast paced progress report "this is not the tank thread you are looking for" Thanks for reading.

It's amazing how much silicone came out whilst using the razor blade and isopropanol. Thought I'd got it all out first time round

Given the tank a wipe down around the seams and masking taped off. Thankfully the plastic trim should hide most of my re-seal effort. Extremely nervous about this next bit. Not sure if I'll attempt it tonight lol. Hoping ive taped off a big enough seam?

Well I did not enjoy re-sealing the tank. It was my first time trying it. I didn't account for how quickly the silicone would start to go off. Couple of bits are OK but the corners are a bit rough. I'd give it a 6/10. As long as its sealed and doesn't leak, I can live with it. Find out in a few days!!!!!! Some pics of the better bits.

My Euro to UK plug converters just arrived for all the equipment. Some of the equipment was designed to plug into the RSM 130D power centre which I no longer have and it was all Euro plugs. I have had the tank all this time and the only thing I've ever ran during testing was the return pump. If the hood doesn't work I'll convert it to rimless/hoodless which was my long term plan anyway.

It's working......its working! Fans are a bit louder than I would like them to be but I can put up with it short term if it means I can have a tank up and running again. Spotted a poor bit of silicone in the back right hand corner. Some other bits need tidied up with the razor also. Not looking forward to the next leak test.
