Before I put the diffuser on, my 210gal tank is using 30% blue and 3 % white and it still look too white. With the diffuser on and i didn't take out the lenses, I can increase the blue to 60% and 25% white over 2 months and half for the coral to adapt. All the different colors of LED blend in really well.
How deep is your tank ? can you upload a picture to see the lighting with Deffuser on ? thank you.

Very nice.... did you use Velcro to hold it up ?....I'm amaze your able to run 60% B & 25% W, perhaps the defusser most defitely is reducing the Intensity of the led.

Yep. I use the velcro I got from homedepot. The diffuser made a huge different. I know some high end lighting company they use diffuser on the products too. Neptune their new lighting system is using diffuser too

I’m running my lights on a 180G (24” deep tank) at 70% blues and 10% whites mounted in my canopy. I need to have a lot of par because it will be SPS dominant with some lps and softies. I’m getting 250-300 par at bottom and around 400-450 par at top of the rocks.

Now, with my previous tank (75G), I ran them at 95% blues and 10% whites. However, they were mounted at 12” high and I had no problems keeping all types of corals. I was getting similar par readings as my 180G. That’s why you abosolutely need to use a par meter to make sure. That’s crazy!

I ran 2 viparspectra 300 9 inches above my 6 ft long 31 inches deep tank. First I ran the lights at 35% blue and 5% whites and 6 hrs a day. Every week I increase about 5% blue, 2% white and 15 mins longer on the blue and 5 mins longer on the white

I’m curious are you running a UV Sterilizer? I see you tank so clear.

Nope. I just use a 7” filter sock, chaeto refugium, and a skimmer. I don’t even use carbon. Just trying to keep it simple!

8 inches is way too close UNLESS you do @telegraham ‘s mod (remove the lenses and put on a piece of acrylic to diffuse the LEDs)

before seeing the mod I hung mine @16 inches
I have tried multiple searches, but can’t seem to find this mod you refer to by @telegraham. Can anyone direct me to it as my light arrives today and I only have a max of 8 inches above my 65 for the light. Thanks.

I watched him talk about it on one of his YouTube live streams. There was no tutorial—he just described it like I typed it out

Just measured mine. 9” above water. I have a 1/8” acrylic top too. Started b/w at around 20/1. Am up to 45/5 after around 6 months. I have whites on for only 3-4 hrs a day. Blues for 12. My zoas, mushrooms, pipe organ and euphyllia seem happy. 24” depth 90G.

Checking in with Viparspectra users. It has been nearly two years since this thread started. How is coral growth, what have you learned/changed since early 2021?

I have a pair of 300W Viparspectra lights for my Reef 180.5 Waterbox (21"tall, 60"wide, 25" front to back). Currently I have one of them 18" above my low boy frag tank- 1% white, 20% blue (SPS, LPS, softies) and a 165W over some clowns and rose bubble tips on the same setting.
