New addition. need help with proper ID.

First let me apologize for the pic. it was taken quickly with my phone. He was added 4 days ago and today is the first i have seen him out and about. Fed the tank to make sure he ate and by the time i went to get the camera(which the batt was dead grr) he was already burried in the sand.

Was sold to me as a potters wrasse.

Any suggestions if this is the acctual name?
And what to feed. He nibbled on mysid but i didnt get to see him completely eat a whole one. He ate live brine at the store i got it from.

possibly a male ornate leopard wrasse? one of my LFS has something identical in their tank and thats what they said. They also said it's incredibly rare. Good find!

pretty blurry picture, but it looks like a potters wrasse to me. very nice fish. I had one last over 5 years in my tank. leopards and potters are hard to acclimate, but once they do, they make a good addition.

Thanks, Im hoping it last that long. i would feel better if he starts hogging down some food. im going to go get some live brine today just to be on the safe side and acclimating him to other foods.

Definately a Potters Leopard wrasse, (Macropharyngodon geoffroyi)
As mentioned, they are very delicate at first, very poor shippers and need a lot of live rock with pods as they forage for these all day long. You also need a good sand bed, at least 3 inchs of fine sand for them to sleep in.
You might also try PEmysis for the finicky eaters, they cant resist it.
I've had mine for 3 years now.

Wow thats nice. Thanks for the info! I have the deep sand bed so good there. as far as pods i have them but not in massive quantities. i need to find a way to add more.

Thats a really nice wrasse! I was thinking about getting a divided leopard wrasse. But now i might be leaning towards the potter :tongue:
