So right now my son has a 13.5 gallon fluval. We decided that we would surprise him with a new Innovative Marine Nuvo Pro 30 gallon long tank. We also got him a Tunze Osmolator nano top off system, 24 lbs of macrorock shelf rock, a bag of crushed coral and a bag of special grade sand. He is only 4 years old but, he absolutely loves the hobby. I can't wait to see the look on his face! Although, I don't think it will now be here till after Christmas. (My fault. Should have paid for the second day air.) I'll just mess with him and wrap it when it comes and when he goes to bed I will put that under the tree and tell him that because he has been especially good this year, Santa made a second trip just for him. Im sure the folks at Bulk Reef Supply have been extremely busy filling orders and just want to send them a thank you for getting my order out right away and wish them a Merry Christmas as well. I hope everyone else here enjoys their holidays too! Anyone else surprising anyone with some cool reefing gear this holiday season?

That’s really cool! Tell him most of the truth! Lol! Way too big to fit in the first load of the sleigh.
I know, right? Lol! I got back into the hobby about 2 years ago. We started with a little tank to see if our son would like having a marine tank. Hooked! Always wants to go to the fish store. Luckily we have a few really good places here for fish and corals. I think once this new tank is established we are going to order some things from World Wide Corals and give them a try. Or maybe just make the 3 hour drive and go personally check them out. Im sure he would their store.

Wow!! I wish I got awesome Christmas presents like that!! I’m sure your son is going to absolutely adore the tank! When I was 4, my dad wouldn’t even trust me to empty the skimmer cup lol he’s got so much responsibility! What’s the stocking plan on this bad boy? Just whatever your son likes at the fish store/online?

It will be a reef tank. Probably try and do mostly Sps. I have 2 kessil a80s that will come off the fluval. And I will add a third once I need it. We'll put a few fish in there. We have a pair of chocolate colored clowns, 2 green chromis, a fire shrimp, a purple torch, and a pincushion urchin that we will transfer over. I still have to take care of the majority of the tasks for him but he is learning. He helps mix the saltwater. He knows how much to feed. He know what kind of things are in his tank. He is just really amused with it. He'll sit there and just stare into the tank for an hour without moving.

WOW! SPS dominant?! That sounds awesome! I’m also a huge fan of fire shrimp, I just use one or two in every tank instead of hermit crabs. So much personality, mine are trained now to swim and perch on my hand for food. My favorite one is named Firetruck.

Yeah, they really are cool. Mine runs right up the glass and will basically climb in my hand as well. He mostly hangs out under the ledge but when he sees me he comes right out like "where is my food man?"

I'm just curious what I should in the tank for flow. Wondering if an MP10 would be a good choice?

The way I see it... it is a great educational experience for young children and a great way to spend time as a family just admiring the work you put into. Can't wait till Tuesday when it gets here. Didn't make it in time for Christmas. Christmas was great nonetheless. Been building Star Wars Legos with the boy yesterday. I may go to home depot today and grab some supplies to build the stand for his tank.

Whoop! Whoop! Tank delivered today! Going to build a nice stand for it this weekend. My son saw it in the garage when him and mom got home. He's excited! He's also wondering why there's no fish in it yet. Lol! Considering tomorrow is a short day and I have a 3 day weekend, should be able to get some things done on it.

I have to figure out something for the aquascape with all these rocks. I guess I will have to order some sort of reef cement. Probably the e-marcos 400 and some dowels of some sort.

Don't mind my messy workshop. Its a work in progress. I have a woodworking hobby and I just started outfitting my garage with some new equipment and building storage cabinets and stuff.

So I started building the base for the stand for my sons 30g long Nuvo. Maybe the mods can move this and make it a build thread now.
