Well I had been contemplating doing a frag tank for a while and finally bit the bullet. Went down to shoreline today and picked up a 34 gallon deep blue rr frag tank today.

Going to use my old 20 long sump, return pump from my 29 gallon, have a reef octopus bh50 skimmer and spare led light. Should be a fairly quick build and assembly. Hoping to get this done by the weekend and water flowing.

Stay tuned.......

Well it didnt get it filled with water as i had planned but i made the stand and all that needs to be done is primer/paint it.

While at home depot i decide what better of a reason to buy a new power tool so.....

Here is a shot of the stand. I gathered some things of what i had from my original 29 gallon to utilize on this frag tank. My plans are to fill the sump with rock and keep the tank bb. I may keep one fish in there, depending on how algae is controlled. My return setup is going to have a manifold, so that way i can run gfo or carbon if need be.

Got some most of the work done minus being fully plumbed. I forgot one of the fittings for the return line bulk head and didnt feel like going back out.

For the light fixture i used black pipe and painted it black to hang some leds from. I have a large tote of rock curing that i will use in the sump for this tank and will seed it with rock from my dt.

At home depot i was in the plumbing section and looked at the black pipe (gas piping). I used 1/2" pipe, 3-36" length of pipes, 4-90* elbows , 4-1" threaded nipples, 2-couplers and 2 -1/2" flanges that mount to the wood stand.

I have a 16" older reef Breeders light and another 16" black box I plan to hang above the tank. I had originally thought of using pvc to hang the light but decided the metal pipe was better looking and would last longer.

I have a reef octopus bh50 from when I had a 29 gallon set up. I was planning to use that for now and see if I need a bigger one later on.

We have WATER!!!! I also got the ato reservoir set up and tested the tunze nano out. I'm hoping to have water circulating tonight...hopefully.

The tote of rock I had curing seems to of had very little dead organics on the rock. The ammonia spiked to about 1ppm and then dropped off, I also added a live rock to the tote and think that helped out with the curing.

Don't mind the pvc shavings on the floor

Looking good! Do you have a aquascape plan yet?

Just a heads up....I have the tunze osmilator nano as well. Keep an eye on how long it has to run in order to top off. I had to reset mine all the time before I moved the float to a smaller compartment in the sump. It took me months to figure out what was wrong with it.

There used to be a subscribe button on this app. Now I have to comment to follow. Oh well.
Great tank & build. I have the jr size of that tank, the 35, not set up yet.
