Hi All,

Thank you all for your feedback on equipment. I think I am almost there, I just need a few more things before I get this thing going. I have a couple questions below that I would appreciate some feedback on.

Here’s what I’ve already purchased for the build :
  • Lighting: NICREW HyperReef 200 Gen 2 w/ remote
  • Skimmer: Tunze Comline DOC 9004 DC
  • RO/DI Unit: BRS 4-Stage Value Plus 75GPD
  • Heater: 300W HiTauing
  • Powerhead: Vortech MP10QD
  • ATO: Osmolator 3 Nano
  • Top off container: 5G Bashsea
  • Inkbird
  • Spinstream x 2
  • Hanna testing kit
QUESTIONS -
  • What should I use in place of the stock filter socks for better filtration? I want 2 media reactors that will fir in the back chambers.
  • Would it be worth upgrading the return pumps, and if so, what do you recommend?
  • Anything else I am missing?
I truly appreciate any advice, tips, or recommendations.

Thanks again!

You could use poly fill, same thing as filter floss but you buy it at wal-mart, fabric stores, etc for WAY cheaper for the same thing sold for tanks.
As far as the return pump. You can see how the stock one works and go from there. I think with the MP-10, you should have plenty of flow.

Thanks for your feedback! I'd like to have some sort of media reactor like the one below. I just see a lot of mixed reviews on these.

You could do that. Would you be able to hide it in the back compartment so it's not in the tank?

I had two of these for years. One was debaffeled for freshwater. So yes you will need to upgrade the pumps. They are loud and weak. I used the eFlux Aquarium DC Flow Pump with Flow Control 1050 GPH with a Y splitter. That took up most of that area. For about 5 years I used the intank media system but I can no longer suggest them. They raised their prices and the product is not cheap garbage. It used to be solid thick arcylic glued perfectly. Now its this weird light plastic crap that falls apart when you try to do maintenance. So I bought the innovated marine filter socks. With a sligh modification they worked really well, I also glued a nice baffle to prevent the sound from driving me crazy of water falling over. In the other chamber was a Tunze 9004. Fits like a glove but only facing one way. I used a filter sock and shoved that in the one baffle full of carbon, and the other baffle was rubble.

It was a constant battle with that AIO to add or change anything and I vowed after that tank to NEVER EVER go without a sump again.

Thanks for your feedback! I was able to find that eFlux pump and just bought it on Amazon. Where did you get the Y splitter? I'm having a hard time finding that for some reason.

I think I may go with 2 of these baskets for filtration - https://www.ebay.com/itm/3165912363...xOwQpuNpZDgkAhSttEFNJXUypt8bqKxIaAo5rEALw_wcB
