New clown getting beat on

I have a pair of ultra black ice clowns in my main tank but recently received a midnightclown

As soon as i put him in the other 2 started going after him. If i pull the other 2 clowns out for a week and put them in my sump while i put the midnight in the main, can i re introduce the pair j to the tank and them not pick on him?

Typically, only juvenile clowns can be kept in groups. They are very territorial and having three usually equals waking up to a dead clown in the morning.

You can try your idea and hopefully it works, but that's the sad truth with clowns cause I'd have a bunch of them if I could [emoji22]

I can keep different types of clowns in pairs? Say a tomato clown and a maroon and a oscolaris ?

The two which have already paired up will likely kill the third addition.

I have tried to keep different species in a large 7' tank and after a year or so maybe a bit longer, the one pair managed to kill the female while I was on vacation and we got the male out in time. This was a maldives nigripe pair and an occellaris pair. So, less likely in a smaller system. I am going to try my clarkiis in with the maldives at some point, but fingers crossed as the first time the maldives almost killed them both in days.

So, I have 5 pairs of clowns (nigripes, perculas, clarkiis, ocellaris, Da vinci ocellelaris) and one lone snowflake. All these guys have their own tanks. Sucks, I would love to have at least three pairs in my 210g, but will probably never happen. Clowns are funny that way.

Worth a try, how big is the tank, are they relentless in there attacks or is it here and there? In my 92 although my situation is different I had a small tomato then after 6 months I added a small gold stripe maroon, the tomato instantly went after the maroon, it lasted a day or 2 spot fed the maroon. Then after a few days the tomato took up residence around some coral in the top left of my tank and the maroon hung out by my Duncan colony in the bottom right of the tank. Fast forward a year and they both still live in there same locations although if the tomato leaks over to the right side of the tank it's clown war for a second. In that time the tomato has barely grown and the maroon has tripled in size. With a little luck it can work out, I doubt they will all be friends though.
