So I got a regal angel fish(yes I know) but had a purple tang in the tank when I put the angel in the tank from observation. The purple tang was being a jerk( aka a tang) so I caught him and put him in the observation tank. How long should I leave him in there 4 days ? 2 weeks? Im taking down observation tank after so don’t really want re set it up after. I knew I may need to do this so I was prepared

Don't know how big your regular display is, you didn't say.
Both these fish need lots of room.
Regals can be a bit timid in my experience whereas the purple is one of the meanest fish you'll find and quite territorial.
I've always told everyone who's asked definitely add a purple last of all fish unless you've got a giant display.
Also I have no real information here about your observation tank so I can't comment on how long to keep it in there.
Nice job catching the purple in your display.
I could never catch mine so there she lived for about 10 years, un caught.
She lived with a giant French angel in a 100,just the 2 of them, plenty of room you might think but that girl was one mean fish.
Good luck.
Need me, just ask.

5 foot 100g and a 20g for observation. I know all tangs can be mean and knew when I was getting this fish I would most likely need to transfer even after using acclimation box for the regal

If the 20 is established and you're not worried about it you can try leaving the purple for a month until the regal is readily eating and showing you it's personality.
Then add the purple.
I wouldn't add any other fish.
Period. Those 2 are enough.
Might be okay, tang will still be a jerk but might be okay.
Not all tangs are mean.
They're smart and somewhat high strung.
Most are just territorial.
I have a yellow and a picasso trigger in my 5 foot 100.
That's it.
Yellow is the boss.
