New GFO to rival Rowaphos.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new GFO product I had never heard off before. It's origionaly from the Germany and was used to reduce phosphate in their drinking water.

The GFO is regenerated then sold for FW marine aquarium use and also for ponds.

The granules are around 2mm to 4mm and a lot cleaner with little dust and less messy to use compared to other types of GFO. Not only is it cleaner it's a fair bit cheaper too. Comparing it to other GFO it works just as well if not than them in my experience using it.

There are a number of advantages using over most other forms of GFO

A company in the UK is importing it and selling it direct or via eBay UK. It's called Phosfoe and only availble in the UK at the moment which is a shame for you US guys but you never know.

I have tried different phosphate removers over the years and nothing has ever beat Rowaphos. However, with the introduction of Phosfoe that's all changed. .I am not saying Phosfoe does a better job than Rowaphos but it is it's equal with many advantages over other it.

It is basically GFO bound to a ceramic, aluminum, or polymer matrix. Similar products have been around for a long time. Xport po4, fauna Marin and a few other have similar matrixes. But of course ours they say they are not gfo.

I think the benefit is surface area with tumbling or channeling.
