I’m in the process of my redsea 450 build too!!!
Gotta love the Flux Capacitor :p Great Scott! @Rscott You have his coming together nicely, I really like the rock work. You got lucky with the tank, not only the price but with the white interior, I too am building a RS 425 and I am disappointed with the black interior. Sweet deal on the test kits too. Following along,

Welll...... more goodies arrived today.

I have spent a little bit of time today starting to construct a basic water station. It’s nothing to fancy but should do the job.

May have a PVC part tomorrow

Also my apex arrived. Not sure if I’m gonna go bonkers and make a disco ball type of sump or just keep it simple. If I go off the rails with it this early in my feeding career I won’t have anything to do later. Plus funds are getting tight after buying lights the other day

May need to just pause on spending $$$$ right now. I am well over $5k and still need skimmer and power heads eeeeek......

So I might just have to hold off on a few things at moment

Also, picked up a GFCI outlet that I will be installing this afternoon!

Everything looks great so far, but I have one complaint. We saw pictures with some dog treats but no pics of the dog!! What the heck man.

Ha well, he is rather large

Like 150lbs large. Truthfully I am curious if he will do something stupid to my tank like try and stand on it.

Wow wow wow

Lots going on over here.
Been a while since i updated this.

Plumbing

For starters last week i had to get my plumbing for the house done to run my RODI unit.

I had built a small false wall in the basement to hold the RODI unit near the water tanks.
I learned the hard way that even if you shut off your water, there is still two floors of water above you! It was a good way to take a bath!

I installed a shark bite connector inline with the down stairs main supply. I put in a Tee and ran 1/2 inch pex to a spigot mounted on the false wall. It worked perfectly.

Lights Arrived!

So as I mentioned before. I got a crazy good deal on some Kessil 360X and the spectral X controller.
I really like the way the kessil shimmers and the low profile look.

They arrived and i have them setup temporarily just to see how they look. Although its hard to take pictures of them with an iPhone

I only have 2 for now but a 3rd is on the way.

Plumbing my Salt water mixing station!

So as you saw above i have to 75 Gallon tanks. One for RODI and one for salt water.

The plumbing is a standard config like many have done here. I can do many things with it.
I can turn over a single tank for mixing. I can move one tank to the other tank and i can export water to and from.

I picked up a large Reeflo pump to move water upstairs

I was concerned about getting glue inside the PVC pipe. I have never tried to work with PVC and tried to find a line between good amount of glue, to much and not enough

I also picked up the float control valve from BRS for the RODI system and some 3/4 inch bulk heads

The top lines are to turn over the tank for mixing.

I did use some flex line on the bottom for the pump. It was to difficult to hard plumb it

Building my manifold and getting the sump ready

So i am going to do a manifold as i have mentioned a few times. I decided to wait on the reactors until i need them. However i choose to make a reactor read manifold so to speak. Its not the prettiest thing but its functional.

I made the mistake of using purple primer. I tried like hell to not get it all over my cool red pipe.
I also did some basic wire management to try and clean it up a bit. I have 2 250 watt Eheim heaters one as a back up.

I used some unions on the main manifold section to remove it for when its time to add the reactors.
I have 1/2 spears gate valves sitting in my office for when its time with all the pipe needed.

I also decided to add the 1 inch spears gate valve on the drain. I know lots of people complain of gurgling on the Red Sea valve so before water even goes in i did this mod!

Apex install!

Well i ran out of time to do my apex this weekend.

I did make a false wall for the cabinet and get that installed. I was able to mount the apex and start running some wires but ran out of time.

tune in next week while I finish my apex install and share more pictures on the control
