Moved in to a new house, and decided it was time for out with the old, I'm taking a 125 gallon tank i have had for 15 years and downsizing to a reefer 350.

new rock scape also.

i will be using rocks that i had from my tank and some friends tanks that have been dry for 5 to 6 years, rocks were given an acid bath and bleached then stored dry in my shed in a clean trash can. along with this i will be adding roughly 20-30 pounds of rock from my current tank that should almost do away with the cycle

here is the new tank just set up and filled

put the rock in 2 days ago, and added a bottle of quick start....

just for kicks i tested just 5 minutes ago for ammonia, none..

so to see if the quick start was actually working i tested nitrate and got this....

looks like 2 to me... has this been the quickest start of a cycle, these rocks were acid washed, bleach bathed, and stored in a rubbermaid trash can for 5 years, completely dry and nothing at all on them except for a few stains..

am i missing something, 2 days and no ammonia and 2 nitrate?

i am going to start bringing live rock over from my old tank that has been set up and growing corals this saturday, not bringing any thing living yet just the rock, and possibly a couple of crabs and snails... is this a good idea this soon?
