I just got my mega set yesterday and the pH electrode has what looks like dried solvent on it making me think the cap seal leaked. Before I open it up and try to set it up and calibrate thought I’d ask if you all think this will be a problem. I know they are probes meant to be kept moist. Hard to see if there is still solvent inside the cap. Appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the quick replies! I haven’t taken the cap off yet, wanted to check here first, but if there is any there’s not a ton. Seems like at a minimum it is still moist but I don’t think it’s bathed in it.

Because it is a new bought unit - i would contact the seller and note this. However - if it still moist - I would not worry so much. The liquid in the cap is probably 4 M KCL if you need to refill the cap for further storage (IME - pH 7 liquid work as well - but NOT RO water). I would use it but send a notice to the seller. By the way I have recond electrodes that have been dry for a prolonged period with 4 M KCL

Sincerely Lasse
