Recently bought a tank that was already setup with live rock and had an engineer goby in it.

Wanting to start up a reef tank. All levels appear to be good but was wondering about any new advice on what I should do to get the perfect conditions for a reef tank.

Thoughts:

Going lidless and having lights overtop
More flow needed?
How many corals/types to put in tank with eventually wanting to add Bubble Tip Anemone in tank.
Removing carbon balls and adding chaeto or some other plants in back.

Currently have:
1 Orange Storm Ocellaris
1 Black Snowflake Ocellaris
1 Coral Beauty
1 Engineer Goby (wanting to get rid of because he keeps digging out the substrate)
1 3 headed Frogspawn
1 Zoanthid Frag

Any help is appreciated!

If you do go "lidless" consider placing a screen over the top to keep jumpers in.

Going off the ledge: Would you be interested in a drop off aquarium?
