This will be a thread for my Reefer 170 build.
This is my second reef tank. This is the end result of a lot of research (google search ;)), experience gained from the first tank, visiting many hobbyist for a peek at their tank, discussing endlessly with my LFS (owner is an awesome person and a hobbyist himself).
I intend to build a mixed reef with few LPS and mostly SPS corals.

Equipments:
Tank: Red Sea Reefer 170.
Tank Volume: 34 Gallon.
Sump Volume: 9 Gallon.
Total volume: 43 Gallon (I guess that qualifies for a nano :))
Skimmer: Deltec SC 1351
Media reactor: Vertex 1.5 L
Return Pump: Eheim Compact+ 3000
Heater: Jagger 75w X 2
Lights: ATI t5 fixture and bulbs. (Kessil A160 WE as backup).
Wave Maker: Two Votech mp10 WQD in anti sync mode.
Rock: Dry Reef Saver Rock and dry sand.

Please wish me luck. And most definitely help me with your valuable comments and suggestions.

I was extremely excited when the reefer package came in. It was packaged well.

The sump being leak tested. Along with a test run of my new skimmer.

There will be lots of picture friend. Our lives are surrounded by cameras! iphone, ipad, dslr, desktop camera....even the gaming station has a camera! :D
Sometimes I think that someone can easily record every moment of our personal lives!

Welcome to R2R, good luck with the build.

Thank you.

I used all dry rock and dry sand. I didn't want to risk having any unwanted living things in my tank. ;)
Spent hours on the "aquascaping" and this is what I came up with!:D
Let me know your thoughts.

The rock in the back right hand side looks like it's dying to be a shelf/overhang? possibly on top of that shorter island on the right? :)
Aquascape looks great though!

Looks great. Be cautious not to place the rock to close to the glass. You want at least 2-3" so you can clean easily. Once you get coral in there it fills up quickly. The last thing you want is dirty glass. I'm looking forward to seeing your build progress.

Thank you. :)

Some of the rocks are actually "glued" using NYOS reef cement.:D
That's good it dosent matter how much I try I always hit a rock and make it fall if I'm in the tank but I also had a fish die a while back and not sure why he died but we tucked himself in the rocks and all I saw was his tail so I had to tear down the pile to get him so I'm glad I didint glue mine but I wish I had at the same time

Tanks looks great!! Would you mind measuring or know the sump physical dimensions ? Thanks!

Thank you. Here you will find the sump dimensions:
http://www.redseafish.com/aquarium-systems/reefer/
Scroll to the bottom of the page for the dimensions. If you need anything not mentioned there, feel free to ask. I will gladly give that to you.

Welcome to R2R and looking forward to seeing the tank stocked! Have you started that list yet?

I am very excited about stocking too. But my primary aim for this tank is to make it a SPS only tank. So fish will be secondary. I hope to source the frags from one of the excellent sponsors of this site.

The tank is currently cycling. I am using some spare pump and LEDs that I had for it. Patiently waiting for the ATI Light fixture and other equipments to come in.

I am using pure Ammonium Chloride and Dr Tim's bacteria to cycle. I love this combination. It has worked for me in the past.
